Poker tournaments are won or lost with the strategy employed by players at the table. Playing your cards and not the players might win a few games but long term success is impossible employing this strategy. By doing this you leave your entire chip set completely to the luck of the cards, which as any poker player knows, comes and goes with every game.

One sure way to ride out bad luck with cards during the game of poker is to use your seat location to the fullest advantage. Be more aggressive when you have the dealer button in front of you because that gives you the best chance to sense what other players are doing for that hand. When you are the dealer, you have the strongest position and it should not be wasted at any of the poker tables.

Another thing to consider for position is when you have one of the blinds. You can use the poker chip set aside for blinds to your advantage. If other players are betting only the blinds, you can passively play a weak hand to catch something on the flop or aggressively raise to push players out and increase your odds of winning. Poker is a game of odds; figure out the odds of your seat position and you will be well on your way.
