Clearly developing new ideas and strategies for use at the poker tables is important. Ask any skilled player who has played the game for many years and they will tell you that what makes poker so great is the constant opportunity to learn. It’s ironic because I’ve found that many players who are new to the game think the opposite. I’ve ran into so many new players who seem convinced that they know everything right away. I have never run into a solid experienced player with this mindset though.

It is of vital importance as one’s game evolves to keep sight of the fact that every new concept isn’t necessarily correct. The inverse of being open minded to learning new ideas and creating them is to also be open minded to the idea that some of these concepts could create a hole in your game if adopted incorrectly.
